There were three Aimhigher Launches in Northampton in October and November 2005. 2 of these took place at The University of Northampton and the third at Weston Favell School. The idea behind the Launches was to inform the parents about why their youngsters had been selected to be in the Strand 1 Aimhigher cohort and what activities and events they could expect to benefit from during their time at school. We also had a guest speaker who helped the parents to understand the importance of encouragement and support of their youngsters during their school education and beyond. Roy was a dynamic and engaging speaker and the parents and students loved his presentation which was full of humour yet made serious points. This session was definitely the highlight of the evening for the audience although they were very complimentary about the whole evening. There was also an opportunity to see a display of activities, enjoy refreshments and take away information and freebies!
