Aspire 2007
Tuesday 10th -Saturday 14th July
56 year 10 students from Northamptonshire
Childcare (Northampton College), Arboriculture and Horticulture (Moulton College), Motorsport Engineering (Tresham College), Business Studies, Music for Film (both at the University of Northampton)
56 students journeyed from across Northamptonshire to embark on their week of working and playing as a university student. The student life began straight away with a BBQ and some team games that encouraged students to meet new people and discover weird and wonderful talents they didn't realise they had ... like making a living, breathing TV from a pile of disguarded recycling!
After this students got straight into their project work across Northampton. Each subject was new to the students and provided an excellent taster of the wide variety of subjects available if they continued onto Higher Education.

Although, as the Gurus will tell you, it's not all work and no play so evenings were taken up with more team challenges and rare opportunities to play sport during the much enjoyed breaks from the rain! A visit to the Caldecotte Project in Milton Keynes tested these sporting talents to the limits with students and Gurus alike participating in activities such as wind surfing, sailing, climbing and archery.

The Western themed party (complete with 'bucking bronco!') revealed many dancing superstars emerge before the week ended on an extremely positive note on Saturday. Once again, seeing the achievements and hard work celebrated in such a fantastic, encouraging way made everyone involved immensely proud. We even had a performance of a song written especially about Aimhigher!
