2009 Summer Schools

What Happened at the 2009 Summer Schools?

Bodies, Bones and Blood

Tuesday 14th to Saturday 18th July 2009

36 students from schools across Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire and Rutland embarked on our last summer school for 2009! The pre summer school nerves soon disappeared and students came out of their shells. Krypton Factor went down a storm, I have never seen so many marshmallows in one persons mouth before! But what a brilliant way to start the week.

Having a break in child nursing Big smiles all round in dental nursing Ready for the high ropes at the outdoor education centre

The high spirits continued into project work the following day the students could choose from either Podiatry, Dental Nursing, Social work or child nursing and midwifery (all provided by the school of health at the University of Northampton).

As is always the case on summer schools a trip to an outdoor education is a must to conquer any fears of heights and water. A very competitive ultimate campus challenge then took place where even the terrible weather failed to dampen the spirits of either students or ambassadors. We had some lovely cups of tea and beautifully presented biscuits for the leaders and some very amusing songs and raps! And the students learned how to juggle and use a Diablo in the circus skills workshop.

Chilling out at the beach party Graduation

As the summer school drew to an end the students danced their socks off at the beach party and we had some fantastic props, including a life-size David Hasselhoff! Like Aspire a large audience turned out to see the students presentations on Saturday. The group should be very pleased with themselves as the presentations were fantastic.

A truly memorable week which was captivated in the ’graduation ceremony’.
